Jay-Z will celebrate his Brooklyn Nets’ arrival at Barclays Center with the auction of a signed, limited-edition jersey. 10 “Carter 4” jerseys, including Jay-Z’s birth surname, will be auctioned via Auctions.NBA.com beginning Wednesday, Oct. 17, with the sale ending Oct. 31.
Proceeds will benefit the Shawn Carter Foundation, which aids students facing economic hardships. The hip-hop mogul is a part-owner of the Nets and helped launch the new stadium with an eight-concert run, as well as showcasing his NBA bona fides by executive producing the video game “NBA 2k13.” (Billboard)

During the sold-out Brooklyn shows, JAY Z announced “I believe everybody in the world is born with genius level talent. Apply yourself to whatever you’re genius at and you can do anything in the world.” His mission through the Shawn Carter Foundation is to help individuals facing socio-economic hardships further their education at institutions of higher learning. Since 2003, the Foundation has distributed more than $1.4M in scholarship awards to help needy scholars across the nation and all of the proceeds from this auction will support the advancement of the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.
